Curium Lab 247, has introduced and launched its Water Testing Kit, TOTAL HARDNESS KIT (APHA-2340-C).
Usually, TOTAL HARDNESS = CALCIUM HARDNESS + MAGNESIUM HARDNESS
Water’s hardness is determined by the concentration of multivalent cations in the water. Multivalent cations are cations with a charge greater than 1+. Usually, the cations have the charge 2+. Common Cations found are Ca2+ and Mg2+. Common Calcium containing minerals are calcite and gypsum. And common Magnesium containing minerals are dolomite.
Standard Packing
This Easy to Use packaging includes:
- H1
- H2
- H3
- Beaker
- Literature
Procedure
- Take 10ml of sample in beaker. Add 2 drops of H1 and shake well. Now, add 3 drops of H2, colour will change to wine red.
- Now Titrate with H3. End point is sky blue.
- Count Number of drops and multiply with factor. *Factor = 5.4
Total Hardness= No. of drops * 5.4 = ppm
